SPEAKERS SERIES ONE:
Last May 18th 2018, we had a privilege of hosting our first Urbal Leadership Series. In this series, our good friend Fadhlur Rahman Akbar shared with us the importance of experience in leadership. He used his life story to show those who attended that leadership is all about using our experiences, knowledge and skills to positively influence our communities.
About the speaker:
Fad Akbar has served 8 years as an Allied Educator in a secondary school under the Ministry of Education in Singapore. He is a co-founder of PALSociety Ltd, a Volunteer Welfare Organisation focusing on Youth Leadership, 3 years as Youth Leader at Chandler Mowat Community Centre, a year as President of Dunia Melayu Canada Community, and his current position: Youth Coordinator in Woolwich Community Services, Elmira.
Fad graduated from the Wilfrid Laurier University with a General BA degree minoring in Psychology. He pursued a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, a Specialized Diploma in Teaching and Learning from National Institute of Education. He is also a certified instructor in Pencak Silat GRASIO and holds a certificate in the Arabic Language.
